Because of these Politicians reputation of India has deeply been affected, no more companies and Foreign Investors are interested in investing in India. It won’t be wrong if we call India the mother/father of Scandals.
Today we are listing 10 most corrupted politicians of India and these are definitely the root of corruption in India.
10. Suresh Kalmadi
Suresh Kalmadi was the man responsible for organizing The Commonwealth Games in 2010 in India and he is responsible for single handedly looting hundreds of crores of rupees from The Commonwealth Budget. Commonwealth games was assigned a budget of Rs. 70,000 crores and it has been alleged that only Rs. 35000/- crores was spent on the games. This news remained in media limelight for a lot of time and Kalmadi was sent to Tihar Jail in 2011. But after spending 10 months he was granted Bail by Delhi High Court and asked him to Pay a surety amount of 5 Lakhs.
9. Andimuthu Raja
Popularly known as A. Raja has been single handedly responsible India’s largest scandal “2G Spectrum”. He has been awarded by Time Magazine as number two on their “Top 10 Abuses of Power” list. He has been responsible for a loss of whooping Rs. 176,645 crore of lost income for the Government of India. He auctioned telecommunications bandwidth to organizations at price far below the real market value. A. Raja and two of his associates were arrested in 2011 by CBI and were sent to Tihar Jail.
8. BS Yeddyurappa
Bookanakere Siddalingappa Yeddyurappa was the 25th Chief Minister of Karnataka. He has been involved in the very famous mining and iron ore export scam. This is the only reason that led to his downfall as the chief minister of Karnataka.
7. Lalu Prasad Yadav
Lalu Prasad Yadav too has been associated with Various Scams. He has served as Chief Minister of Bihar from 1990 till 1997. His most famous scam is the Fodder Scam which led to his resignation as Chief Minister. He has some 63 odd cases filed against him. He was set to Judicial remand for 134 days in 1997 but since then he has been roaming free and contesting elections. He made his wife Rabri Devi the Chief Minister of Bihar after his resignation so although technically he wasn’t the Chief Minister then but actually still had all the powers. He has also come under scrutiny for helping his Brother in law monetarily.
6. Madhu Koda
Madhu Koda has served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2006 to 2008 and in this short terms has been associated with India’s largest mining scam. He has been accused of Money Laundering and Mining Scam and owns as much as 4000 crores as illegal assets. Government tried but they could just recover a small percentage of those assets.
Madhu Koda was sent to Tihar Jail after the permission of the Jharkhand Vigilance Court.
5. Mulayam Singh Yadav
Mulayam Singh although hasn’t been directly involved in any Scam but he is still said as the most corrupt Minister of India probably due to his indirect relations with the Scam. He has been alleged that during his time as the Chief Minister he accumulated disproportionate assets which resulted in crores of rupees. His son Akhilesh Yadav is currently serving as the Chief Minister of India.
4. Karunanidhi
Karunanidhi has been Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on five different occasions. He has been associated with various scams through out the country through out his 5 tenures. He has been alleged to hand over the construction tenures of Tamil Nadu to private companies on basis of bribe offered. He has been accused of helping Murasoli Maran’s son Kalanidhi Maran who owns Sun Network. He is also associated with famous 2G scam (worth over 1,70,000 crores) that happened in India in 2010. Karunanidhi himself although hasn’t been jailed but his daughter Kanimozhi was jailed because of her involvement with 2G scam.
3. Sharad Pawar
Sharad Pawar has served various high Posts through out the country, he has been the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Minister of Defence and is currently Minister of Agriculture in Government of India. He also served as the chairman of the World’s richest Cricket board Board of Control for Cricket in India. Sharad Power has remained in Power for long time and his list of scams and corruption is too endless. He has been associated with some high scale scams like Stamp-Paper Scam Connection Controversy, Controversial Wheat Imports, Land Allotment, IPL Exemption From Tax Controversy, Controversy Faced After Assets Declaration, Nira Radia’s Controversial Allegations, Criticism Faced After Extreme Hike in Prices of Agricultural Produce. Sharad Pawar claimed his assets to be worth 12 crore in 2010 under RTI act, but in reality critics claim his assets to be worth few thousand crores.
2. Jayalalithaa
Jayalalithaa is the current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, But one thing that puts her apart is that she has staggering 46 corruption cases pending against her. She has been associated with India’s largest scam Coal import scam that is worth a whooping Rs. 7 Billion. Some other cases against her Tansi land deal case, and colour TV case, amongst many others. A recent raid at her residence revealed 28 kg of jewellery, 90 high end wrist-watches, 40 air-conditioners, 10,500 sarees, 750 pairs of footwear’s. She along with her colleagues is still facing charges of corruption.
1. Kumari Mayawati
Mayawati heads the Bahujan Samaj Party and was the ex Chief Minister of India’s largest state Uttar Pradesh. She has served four terms of Chief Minister of UP. Mayawati has been responsible in multiple scandals that have affected National Income and Income of Govt of India. The first prominent scandal she was involved in was Taj Corridor Case, CBI investigaed and figured that she had assets disproportionate to her income. Mayawati’s Birthdays have come under scrutiny in the past, on her Birthday’s she has been laden with diamonds. Her birthday has been declared as People’s welfare day and amount of close to 7,500 crore was spent on her birthday in 2010. Wiki Leaks has also alleged that Maywati has deployed a number of food tasters for herself for security, and also alleged that Mayawati sent her private Jet to Mumbai to get a pair of Sandals.
