Sylvester Stallone: 'I Only Kill People That Need To Be Killed'

Sylvester Stallone has defended the violence in his latest action movie The Expendables, insisting he only "killed" villains who deserved punishment in the film.

The Hollywood tough-guy has previously spoken out against excessively gory films, but his newest blockbuster - about a team of mercenaries attempting to overthrow a South American dictator - contains a string of bloody scenes.

However, Stallone has assured fans the only characters who are hurt in The Expendables are those who mistreat others.

He says, "The one thing in my films... I only kill people that need to be killed. Let me put it this way, the ones that deserve it get it and they get it good and the ones that go after women really get it, you know what I mean? Really get it."
